![]() ![]() When we came back from getting some deserts (they weren't good either. I have never thrown uneaten crab legs away but tonight I did. they were like putting a spoon of salt in your mouth and chewing on it. The Crab Imperial tasted like cheap mustard and pickles. We finally were seated at another table because yes, that first table was taken. She made us stand there until she SLOWLY walked back to hostess stand to find out. So, you can eat your monies worth of that stuff here if you are really into it.I have eaten at this resturant several times and never had a bad meal BUT this time it was HORRIBLE!!!!! First the hostess took us to a table she wasn't sure if people were sitting at our not. However, one thing Captain Georges offers that can not be matched by those other restaurants is the endless supply of crab legs and peel your own shrimp at that price. And at a price of $29.99 it was is not much cheaper than the seafood combo platters I had eaten at other seafood restaurants in Murrells Inlet (typically $30-$35) just prior to this meal which we enjoyed much better. I remember being more impressed with the sea food buffet at the Williamsburg location. There was a lot to choose from and the food was not bad – just nothing special about it. But as my wife and I ate we were not over impressed with the food. As expected there were lots of different sea food, meats, salad, desert choices offered. They had constructed a replica of ship inside the building with the all the buffet items tucked into its sides along with the plates, cups, and silverware. The tables were thick hard wood with sea shells embedded in the table tops. Once inside we found this Captain George’s was very much like the others. We arrived at Captain George at about 11:30AM and there was a line there but it was not the extremely long line we have seen at the Virginia locations. (This location also offers a smaller discount to $31.99 for adults on weekdays from 3:30PM to 5PM and Saturdays from 3PM to 4PM, Children ages 5 to 12 is always $18.99 and under age 4 is free) The restaurant opens at noon on Sundays and my experience is that there is always an incredibly long line just before the doors open. And typically when we go to Captain Georges we always go on Sundays because the buffet is reduced to $29.99 for adults. The building was brightly colored in light green with palm trees and attractive landscaping all round. Captain Georges Myrtle Beach is an impressive looking building just a short drive from Broadway on the Beach and the Ripley’s Aquarium. We have dined at this chain restaurant several times in Williamsburg and in Virginia Beach, but this was our first visit to Myrtle Beach and our first experience dining at Captain Georges here. While vacationing in Murrells Inlet my wife and I had dinner at Captain Georges Seafood Buffet in Myrtle Beach. Hope you will give it a try as a treat when in Myrtle Beach! Additionally the dining room is set up with multiple small rooms surrounding the central buffet, so you do not feel as if you are in a massive cafeteria. The ONLY negative was that the dessert bar was not replenished so the pickings were somewhat limited, but after all I was there for the seafood so not a big deal. BUT, the setup for seating is excellent dividing you by group size as soon as you walk in the door. However we were after Labor Day and just in front of Hurricane Irma, so that may have had an impact. The staff was wonderful and we were seated immediately. There were excellent non-seafood options for those desiring that, but I did not taste a single one. But there were so many non-fried options that I was delighted and had no problem enjoying my fill. I am a seafood lover, but dislike the traditional fried offerings of the majority of buffets especially in tourist cities. ![]() We were not quite sure what to expect but were floored by the immensity of the offerings. The abundance, the variety and the superb preparation of every dish is well worth it. The price per person of the buffet may deter some folks from enjoying this feast, but let me encourage you to make this the treat of your vacation. ![]()
